Seeing of visions and dreams is a common more or less to all individuals. In a state of sleep, when controls of the brain are relaxed, man's sub-conscious mind and his spiritual senses become very much awaked. In this state, sometimes, man begins to see things, as if in real life. This is called 'dream'. Not only he sees things in his dream but he also feels the good or bad effects of the happenings taking place in it. His responses are very real.

To a philosopher, the occurences of the dream world, are merely reflections of man's natural thoughts. But from the spiritual angle, dreams and visions are shown by God, the All-knowing; and in it there are hints and infomration pertaining to events of the future.

Because of this important feature, Islam regards "dream" as an element of "prophethood"; and the existence of the dreams among the followers of Islam is always taken to be a proof that Islam is a living religion. In this era of the revival of Islam, such dreams have become all the more abundant as a result of this widespread spiritual shower that has started coming down from heaven.

It is therefore necessary that we utilize this timely shower, and find out the interpretation of what is shown to us in the world of dreams. There was a long standing need of a book in English, which could be used in interpreting dreams and visions. To fulfil this need, a translation is now being presented in an abridged form, of a book called 'Tabir-ur-Roya Saghir' printed in Egypt. The original book is a compilation of the interpretation of dreams made by the famous Imam, Muhammad bin Sirin. God had gifted the Imam, with a great knowledge, in the field of interpretation of dreams.
