The mosque plays an important role in the life of a Muslim. It is not only a building where Muslims go to worship but also a center for the community that attracts Muslims from all walks of life enabling them to bond together and develop a sense of brotherhood.

There are many mosques of different shapes and sizes all over the world, ranging from the small and simple to the grand and beautiful. Everyone is welcome to enter a mosque but there are certain etiquettes that should be observed upon doing so.

This booklet is a simple introduction for children on what a mosque is and the etiquettes to be observed when entering a mosque. It is part of an educational pack designed for use by teachers when covering the topic of Islam. There are worksheets and posters that support this booklet to enable teachers to introduce this material in a variety of ways. This means that different learning styles can be catered for making the concepts easier to understand. The booklet includes a glossary of words commonly used when talking about mosques, written in child-friendly language and whilst there are also some references to history in this booklet, they have been kept to a minimum so as not to distract from the main topic.

It is hoped that this nurtures that natural curiosity of children and encourages them to learn more about mosques so that children have the knowledge and confidence to enjoy and appreciate mosques wherever they may be.
